LEGISLATORS CONVENE SIXTH NATIONAL SUMMIT
The Immigration Policy Debate will be
among the main agenda topics
Washington, DC/Las Vegas, NV – The National
Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL)
will convene Hispanic State legislators,
corporate executives, educators, government
officials, policymakers and other state and
local elected officials from across the country
at its Sixth Annual National Summit scheduled
for November 13-15, 2008 at the Bellagio Hotel
in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Among the main agenda topics is the Immigration
Debate: NHCSL’s President, Delaware State
Representative Joseph E. Miró, announced that
Mexican Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan will be among
the high-ranking officials participating in the
immigration discussion along with other
immigration policy experts. “Immigration issues
are at the forefront of our agenda and are a
policy priority for NHCSL, we welcome the
opportunity to hear from Mexican Ambassador
Arturo Sarukhan whose contributions will be
crucial as we develop new policies in this area”
stated Representative Miró.
NHCSL Summit agenda will also include a
presentation of the election results and the
impact of the Hispanic vote, as well as a review
of NHCSL’s policy priorities in the areas of
education, economic development, the current
housing crises and other issues affecting the
nation and our Latino community.
The Summit officially begins on November 13 with
the John S. Martinez Golf Outing, created to
help young high school students who aspire to
have careers in politics. The fund was created
to honor the legacy of the late, former
president of NHCSL, Representative John S.
Martinez of Connecticut. Registration and
